Academy. My skills are broad and cover a wide range of policing functions including front line response, investigation, intelligence, covert operations, community policing, change management, public protection, safeguarding and strategic development. Having completed 30 years service within policing, I spent a significant proportion of that time in supervisory and operational / strategic management roles ranging from sergeant to temporary chief inspector rank. My profile also includes a wide range of partnership working with statutory and voluntary sector organisations and experience working within senior management teams and supporting chief officer teams. I possess high levels of integrity and demand the highest standards of those within my team. My management style has enabled me to achieve performance targets and deliver a quality service throughout my career. By nature I am inquisitive and ambitious; enjoying new challenges away from main stream policing, where I can showcase and develop my skills. Following my police career, I have worked as a service manager at The Children's Society in the North East Region, where I was responsible for managing and developing safeguarding services to protect children and young people who go missing, are trafficked and/or at risk of sexual exploitation. As part of that role I was a safeguarding coach, representing the North East Region as part of a national working group within The Children's Society. I then joined Newcastle United Academy as the Safeguarding, Welfare & Equality Lead, where I implemented and developed a range of safeguarding initiatives to protect young footballers, from pre-Academy (Under 8’s) to young professionals (Under 23’s). In June 2022, following expansion of the Safeguarding function at the Academy, I was promoted to Academy Safeguarding & Well-being Manager, with managerial oversight of all age groups and specific responsibility for the U21 group, Loan players and trialists. I am a member of the Academy Management Team, Loans Management Group and Premier League Regional Safeguarding Hub.
